Putting Strengths-Based Approaches in Action

September 22-24, 2024

A Virtual Exhibition Celebrating Autistic Artistry

Art is a profound strength that individuals on the spectrum often possess, surpassing the neurotypical mind3. It is a source of learning, inspiration, and celebration for everyone. Thanks to Dr. Fung’s invitation, I am honored introduce you to the world of autistic artistry through this viritual exhbition.

From a very young age and without formal training, these artists have displayed extraordinary talent in their uniquely passionate themes – ranging from animals and architecture to symbols and numbers. For many, discovering and harnessing their artistic abilities as a strength has had a truly transformative impact on their lives as well as their families.

These artworks stand as living testimonials to the strength-based approach that is the focus of this year’s summit. Before the slideshow, Dr. Lawrence Fung, the summit organizer and a professor at the Stanford School of Medicine, shares his insight on the intersection of art and the “strength-based model.”
